New River Trail State ParkSituated on the scenic New River, at the site of an abandoned railroad right-of-way, this 57-mile park is filled with open trails and pathways for hiking, biking and horseback riding, campgrounds and plenty of great fishing spots. The park offers summertime canoe and bike rentals, boat launches and a horse arena with horse rentals and guided horseback trips. And, the 150-year-old Shot Tower is a popular destination for visitors looking for a little history during their visit.
Hours -Open daily for day use from dawn-dusk
Prices -Park entrance is free. Parking is $2 on weekdays, $3 on weekends. Boat launch fees are $3 per day.
