Nature's Calling. New River Trail State Park - Wytheville, VA
Spend the day outdoors exploring a 57-mile park right on the scenic New River where a railroad once operated. The park is ideal for biking, hiking, kayaking, fishing, horseback riding, or enjoying a laid-back picnic. There are plenty of tunnels, bridges, and lakes that make the miles of trails even more breathtaking.Come summertime, bike, boat, and horse rentals are available in the Foster Falls area, as well as guided horseback rides, and historic tours of 150-year-old Shot Tower. Enjoy glimpses of wildlife and views of the river and cliffs as you venture off from access points like Chestnut Yard, Cliffview, Dannelly Park, Draper, Hiwassee, and Ivanhoe.

Prices -Park entrance is free. Parking is $5. Boat launch fees are $3 per day.
